Senior Accountant (Full Cycle) - Temp to Hire

Location: Tampa, FL
Compensation: $85,000 - $90,000 annual salary (Temp-to-Hire)

Position Overview

Our client, a growing small business in Tampa, is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to oversee the full accounting cycle and support day-to-day financial operations. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment and can manage accounting functions with minimal supervision. This is a temporary-to-hire opportunity with the potential for permanent employment based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full month-end and year-end close process.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities.
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Prepare sales tax filings and support other regulatory reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with external CPA firms during audits and tax preparation.
• Monitor cash flow and provide financial insights to management.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Support special projects and ad hoc financial reporting requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting responsibilities.
• Experience working in a small to mid-sized business environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience handling payroll or working closely with payroll processes.
• Background in professional services, manufacturing, distribution, construction, or other small business environments.
• Experience improving accounting procedures and operational efficiencies.
